SCPRT is accepting letters of intent from eligible entities until October 1, 2021
Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism (SCPRT) is now accepting letters of intent from eligible entities for the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant.
RTP is a federal program designed to help states provide and maintain recreational trails for both motorized and non-motorized recreational trail use. RTP funds are available to state, federal and local government agencies, as well as qualified private organizations.
Funding is provided on a cost-reimbursement basis, with the grant recipient paying 100% of the cost of an item before submitting a reimbursement request for 80% of eligible costs. Individual trail grants can range from $10,000 ($12,500 total project cost) to $100,000 ($125,000 total project cost).
Eligible entities interested in applying for the RTP grant must submit their letter of intent forms to SCPRT by October 1, 2021. Submission instructions are included on the form.
Ten South Carolina projects were selected for RTP grant funding in the most recent funding cycle. RTP funding cannot be guaranteed for the 2022 fiscal year until reauthorization of the program is confirmed. RTP was most recently reauthorized under the FAST Act (Fixing America's Surface Transportation), which is set to expire September 30, 2021.
